Award Staffing is partnering up with a prominent electrical manufacturer and we're looking for a skilled, qualified Production Supervisor to start at their facility in Brooklyn Park. Position Title: Production Supervisor

Position Type: Direct Hire

Schedule/Hours: 1st shift; Monday-Friday;

OT Required:
1st Shift: 5 am 2: 30 pm Mon Thurs, 5 am 9 am on Fri
2nd Shift: 2: 30 pm 12 am Mon Thurs, 12pm 4: 30pm on Fri
3rd Shift: 8: 30 pm 5 am Sun Wed, 8: 30 pm 1am on Thurs

Pay rate: $50k+ Depending on Experience

Position Description:
Oversee production of Control Panels and Wire Harnesses in order to meet delivery deadlines, achieve excellent quality, and maintain a continuous improvement atmosphere centered around LEAN manufacturing and 5S.

Key responsibilities:
Maintain 100% On Time Delivery
Review workload forecast and plan for needed capacity
Flex resources between work centers to eliminate bottlenecks
Keep workers focused and productive
Organize OT and prepare workers for extra hours
Champion excellent quality
Work with all quality personnel to eliminate workmanship defects
Manage In Process Changes to ensure correct changes were made to the end product as well as documentation
Handle MRB material generated through workmanship errors, capture within M1 ERP system, and work with inventory to acquire replacement material.
Training
Acquire a general understanding of all production workcenters in order to assist in training of new employees.
Learn manufacturing Best Practices as they pertain to the production of Control Panels and Wire Harnesses. Work with shop personnel to ensure they are carrying out their daily tasks to the best possible standard.
Staffing
Work with the Production Planner for capacity and labor needs
Monitor all workcenters and identify need to add or subtract labor
Conduct on site interviews with potential candidates
Work with HR to provide necessary discipline up to termination for necessary situations.
Continuous Improvement Manufacturing
Maintain a strong 5S program at all times
Participate in Kaizen events
Safety
Ensure all safety policies are understood and enforced
Complete monthly safety training with all direct reports.
Always consider safety a top priority
Ensure that processes are delivering their intended outputs.
Ensure the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization.
Proficient in the use of the M1 ERP System

Skills/Requirements for the position:

Supervisory responsibilities
Yes.

Education, experience and skills:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field from a four-year college or university and/or at least 5 years of Production Supervision experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as labor hours, available capacity, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Knowledge of various tools, fasteners, torque specs, etc
Ability to read High Voltage and Low Voltage schematics to determine proper wire routing, gauge, labeling, etc (preferred, not required)
Have a clear understanding of 5S, its purpose, and how it improved the manufacturing process.
Ability to help generate and implement LEAN manufacturing principals.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Proficient with Windows based ERP/MRP systems M1 experience preferred but not required.
Excellent skills using Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
