Award Staffing has partnered with a company in the SE metro area that designs, manufactures, and installs Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) Blankets and associated passive thermal control parts for aerospace and cryogenic applications. With an average of over 25 years of experience in developing MLI systems, our team is ready to assist their clients in fulfilling their thermal control needs.

They have a wide array of services they provide that can be matched to their client project requirements; large to small, engineering intensive to build to print. Our partner works to create win-win partnerships with their clients.

 

Position Title : Commercial Fabricator

Schedule : Monday Friday

Hours : 7am - 3pm

Pay Rate : $12.00

Location: Farmington, MN

 

The Fabricator II is required to manufacture materials and assemblies based on AFM or customer-provided drawings, templates, and specifications.  This may be completed by hand or with the assistance of specialized equipment.  This equipment includes, but is not limited to: roll-to-roll combiners, industrial sewing machines, mechanical presses, and other AFM equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

         Perform hands-on manufacturing of assigned materials and assemblies produced by Aerospace Fabrication and Materials (AFM) including the following: 

         Sew protective covers or other AFM assemblies, hand combine materials, roll-to-roll combine materials

         Read and accurately interpret customer provided drawings, templates, and specifications

         Interface with manufacturing, quality, engineering personnel on material status and production planning issues

         Inspect materials and assemblies

         Maintain and control material traceability

         Maintain and clean AFM equipment 

         Promote and ensure a clean and safe work environment adhering to Company and governmental policies and regulations

         Maintain regular, dependable attendance

         Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

 

Qualification Requirements

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required and are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. 

Education / Experience:

             High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, but not required.

             Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required. 

             Experience in manufacturing drawing reading is preferred, but not required. 

             Sewing experience is preferred, but not required.

 

Language Skills and Interpersonal Communication:

             Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with fellow employees, customers and vendors.

             Ability to read and interpret documents including, but not limited to safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

 

Mathematical Ability:

Individuals must have the following,

             Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and multiply and divide by up to 1000 s. 

             Ability to convert numbers, round in all units of measure, use whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

             Ability to accurately measure using a ruler and a tape measure required. 

 

Reasoning Ability:

Individuals must have the following,

             Ability to apply knowledge learned through training to thoroughly understand how to read and interpret AFM and customer drawings and templates. 

             Ability to compare, inspect, and judge whether project matches required specifications.

             Ability to apply knowledge learned through training of AFM manufacturing processes.

             Ability to learn to operate any AFM equipment.

             Ability to take instructions on detailed activities

             Ability to maintain detailed records

             Self-motivated individual
